I am a native of Vinton and a lifelong resident of Iowa.  After graduating from Washington High School in Vinton, Iowa, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant and then began my career of teaching art.  After 33 years, I have recently retired.  I now focus on the business I opened in 2019, Pourville Art Studio & Gallery in Vinton.  Opening the studio had been a dream of mine for many years and I’m proud to be able to bring a creative business into Vinton that adds an artistic nature to the community.  Within my business, I emphasize the artwork of local artists; it’s amazing how much talent our community has!

I have made an effort to encourage people of all ages and talents to create art and leave the area a better place.  As a member of the Vinton Guild of Fine Arts, I have been involved with various ways to spread art throughout the community.  Some of these activities have included the Vinton’s Corn Statues, Back Alley Art program, and spearheading the Back Alley Art Festival & Community Mural project.

I also love gardening and spending time on my farm with my husband Gary, and my “Pupper” dog Shadow.  Family is very important to me, and I love spending time with them, including my grandchildren and nieces & nephews.

Being able to play an active role on the Vinton Unlimited Board of Directors is an honor.  I enjoy seeing all types of businesses in Vinton be successful in order to help make the community strong and viable both for today and the future.
