I was born in 1993 and grew up in Vinton. I attended Vinton-Shellsburg schools through all grades graduating in 2011, participating in multiple sports and extracurricular activities including Football, Wrestling, and FFA.
After graduation I worked jobs in multiple fields including construction, maintenance, agricultural, coaching and fabrication. After working out of state multiple years building-then managing commercial farms, I decided to take a chance with a food trailer in order to return home starting Beast & Bird in 2021.
I worked hard to grow Beast & Bird over the last few years from a small food trailer trying to figure out the industry to a successful large food trailer and catering business. A strong passion for food and bringing people together led to organizing the “Fall Beef Fest in Vinton in 2023. Success of Beef Fest led to an unofficial partnership with fellow community members Clay and Justin McBride to organize another event, “Thanksgiving Eve Holiday Kickoff.” After another successful event and opportunity to purchase a brick and mortar location the partnership became official.
The last 10 months has been spent fully renovating “the old steakhouse” on the north side of town, in a hope to bring something special to Vinton that people desperately want and – in our eyes – the town needs. We cannot wait to open in December!
I’m passionate about Vinton and the people in it. I will always work to improve the town and want to make it a place everyone wants to visit and support all the businesses.
