Preserving local history and being a resource for genealogical research for Benton County is the primary goal of the Benton County Historical Society.  Operating as an all-volunteer organization since it’s beginning in 1970, involvement of members as well as non-members is key to obtaining this goal.

This is the only “Combat Veterans” organization.  No one does more for veterans of all branches and their families!  The Smith-Geater Post focuses on volunteering in our community of Benton County, Iowa and the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. The heart of our organization is focusing on its members and their needs.

Vinton Lions Club

The main purpose of this group is to serve the visually and hearing impaired along with diabetes. Annual projects include Lions Softball Field, sponsor of Boy Scout Troops and scholarships. Meetings are Wednesdays at Noon at Pizza Ranch. Contact: Dr. Alan Woodhouse at 472-4862

Vinton Noon Kiwanis

The major emphasis of this group is the youth of the community. Annual projects include the development of Kiwanis Park, Easter egg hunt, Christmas party for special needs children, sponsor of Boy Scout Troop, Bike Safety Rodeo and scholarships.
